Kanazawa
Kanazawa is the prefectural capital of Ishikawa prefecture with a population of 457,000. Ishikawa is located on the coast of the Sea of Japan of the main island and is about 400 km west-northwest of Tokyo. In August, Kanazawa has many sunny days and is slightly cooler than Tokyo. Mean temperatures is 27°C.
Kanazawa is a popular tourist destination in Japan and attracts 7 million tourists visit every year. Kanazawa prospered as a castle town in the 17th century (Edo period) with a million koku (a unit of measurement equaling enough rice to feed a person for a year), and escaped the fires of the Second World War. Preserved historical buildings such as "Kenrokuen Garden" and "Higashi Chaya Teahouse District" are among the tourist attractions. Visitors can see also traditional crafts such as lacquer ware, gold leaf artwork, and dyeing. Traditional dishes using fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan and the vegetables grown with beautiful water are of course fascinating for tourists.
Ishikawa and Kanazawa have been encouraging international exchange activity. Details of the activities are seen in the official websites of Kanazawa International Exchange Foundation and Ishikawa Foundation for International Exchange.

Conference Venue Information
The conference will be held in Hougaku Hall of Ishikawa Ongakudo. Ishikawa Ongakudo was constructed adjacent to the JR (Japan Railway) Kanazawa station in 2001 as a base facility which supports traditional and modern performing art. Ishikawa Ongakudo consists of three halls, Hougaku Hall, Concert Hall, and Exchange Hall. Hougaku hall is designed to be suitable for Japanese traditional music and theater such as the Kabuki and Bunraku. The Concert Hall is a shoebox-type hall which provides an ideal environment for chamber orchestral music. Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, which is an orchestra founded by Ishikawa Prefecture and the City of Kanazawa, holds regular concerts in this hall. The exchange hall is a multi-purpose hall for various events like exhibitions, ballroom dancing, etc.
